Churches in Stretton Parish

Stretton - St Nicholas

Church Lane Stretton Oakham
(01572) 812202

We exist to seek to help everyone to know Jesus, worship him and share his love.
Stretton was named by the Saxons for its position beside the Roman Ermine Street. St Nicholas' Church has stood here for 900 years, with a puzzling history of many items. In 1185 Robert de Brus, ancestor of the King of Scotland granted it to the Knights Templar. The church was greatly extended in C13th, and a full copy of the history of the church can be purchased. If you wish to be emailed a weekly copy of The Herald from the Hub, the newsletter for our family of parishes (Cottesmore, Greetham, Stretton, Clipsham, Thistleton and Exton) please contact us.
